Find a Neighborhood
One of the most important things to consider when you are in the market for a new home is a neighborhood which will suite your lifestyle and needs. If you have a family, find out which schools, playgrounds, etc. for children are in the area. Also, make sure the area is safe for children by contacting the local police department. Just because a neighborhood "looks" safe, doesn't always mean it is.
Consider how far you will be from your place of employment, and which forms of public transportation are available if need be. If there is going to be a long commute from your new home to your job, check into the carpools in the area.
Other things to consider when looking at a neighborhood is the convenience of such places as shopping malls, grocery stores, post office, hospitals, pet care, etc.
Living in a safe, convenient neighborhood makes all the difference in your happiness and quality of life. It is a very important decision when purchasing a new home.
