There are many considerations when choosing a neighborhood.   First, consider your housing affordability.  Your financial situation will quickly steer you to areas that are in your price range.  You must decide if you want to live near an urban area or prefer living in the suburbs, or outlying areas.  Having the convenience of shopping areas, entertainment and recreational opportunities nearby should also be a factor in your decision.  Home maintenance is another point to ponder.   Are you looking for a low maintenance home or do you enjoy making home improvements and upgrades to a property?  Think about an established neighborhood versus new construction. 

Your place of employment is another factor to consider when finding the perfect neighborhood.   Are you looking for a short commute, or is this negotiable on your priority list?  Study the traffic patterns you would be using daily and observe traffic flow at different times of the day.   

Schools and educational opportunities may play an important role in determining where you live.  Check out local school websites for current information on neighborhood schools. A community college or university can also impact an area.

Finally, consider the resale value of a neighborhood.  Inquire about the previous growth of an area and investigate how the future housing market and community is projected to develop.  Ponder the potential of your investment.  Once you find the perfect neighborhood, schedule a visit to properties that are For Sale By Owner!
