Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (IATA: FFO, ICAO: KFFO, FAA LID:FFO) is a United States air Force base located in Greene and Montgomery counties, eight miles (13 km) northeast of the cenytral business district of Dayton, Ohio, United States.  Part of the base is located along the city limits of Riverside and is also adjacent to Fiarborn and Beavercreek.  The base is named after the Wright brothers who used the Huffman Prairie portion of what became Wright Patterson as their testing ground, and Frank Stuart Patterson, son and nefphew of the co-founders of National Cash Register, who was killed on June 19, 1918, int he crash of his Airco DH.4 at Wilbur Wright Field.

Wright Patterson AFB is the headwuarters of the Air Force Material Comman, one of the major commands of the Air Force.  "Wright-Patt" (as the base is colloquially called is also the location of a mjor USAF Medical Center (hospital), the Air Force Institute of Technology, and the National Museum of the United States Air Force, formerly known as the U.S. Air Force Museum.

It is also the home base of the 445th airllift Wing of the Air Force Reserve Command, an air Mobility Command-gained unit which flies the C-5 Galazy heavy airlifter.  Wright Patterson is also the headquarters of the Aeronautical Systems Center and the Air Force Research Laboratory.

New Employees are moving into WPAFB, Wright Patterson Air Force Base is the largest single employer in the Miami Valley.  WPAFB also known locally as Wright Patt or just "the Base" is located partially in eastern Montgomery County and Western Greene County.

Currently there is a brand new house being built in Kettering which is only about 8-10 miles from the base.  This house is brand new and has 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths.  Kettering is well known for the excellent schools.

Wright Patt employees often find homes in Beavercreek in Greene County where they are likely to find either brand knew houses or more modest homes which were built all thru the 1970's and 1980's.
